Karnataka elections the result which earlier indicated a BJP victory with a slim majority
*Shades of morality*
After all the hype of the Karnataka elections the result which earlier indicated a BJP victory with a slim majority , there was a a last minute reversal of events which left the Congi- JDS combine with a slim majority .
This *last minute* combine of the two earlier awowed adversaries was a last ditch effort to deny the BJP the capture of the govt in Karnataka .
The facts speak for themselves . The BJP had won the largest no of seats . The Congi suffered an ignominious decisive defeat , reduced to less than 2/3 rd their earlier nos . This was a clear rejection by the electorate of the Congi , and a disapproval of their governance tenure .
The *third player* the JDS got less than 18% of the seats , and but for the twisted turns of political events has emerged as the chosen bedfella by the *trounced* Congi to make a backdoor entry to power , cosmetically fronted by the joker in the pack struggling for relevance .
Technically by this unholy cohabition the two actual losers will land up as winners to power . The people of Karnataka were aware that they were separate parties under separate symbols , and had voted accordingly .
Many Congi voters did not want the JDS , and likewise the JDS voters did not vote for the Congi . There was no prepoll alliance and the voting public were aware of this and made their choice .
A lot of individual committed voters of both these parties may not have wanted this alliance , which could have been stitched together before the polls . In a way this was a *con* on the voter .
There is a degree of dent of morality with this post poll *coupling* . Anyway this is the turn of democracy which allows for this tweaking of morality by the political order . The reality and legalese allows for this unholy alliance , and the third arm of the state , the Judeocracy will interpret it as valid .
Technically the unholy alliance can prevail , as the *man made secular holy book* the Constitution has made provisions for such eventualities . Can it however justify the morality of not respecting the choice and will of the voting people who collectively did not in majority vote for the individual constituents .
If at all there is a permissibility in the situation , the Congi should give outside support to the JDS and not join the govt . The Congi back in power is a travesty of fair play and a mockery of the people's will . One should note that the Congi CM lost one of the two seats he contested , and 15 of his ministers lost their seats . A clear rejection of the Congi . How can they dare to power back to rule or co-rule .
The Governor , a BJP appointee is overtly partial and partisan to the BJP , and has invited the BJP to form the Govt . Another example of a dent in morality . However , perverse as it seems the Governor has by other means , inadvertently enabled the the lesser amoral move to prevail . This is holy politics in our country .
The Congi had cried foul and has called the Governor the stooge of the Govt . They forget that in 2012 , they got their stooge Governor HD Bharadwaj to dismiss the BJP govt. Their hands are as soiled as any others . In fact , they wrote the book in political jugglery .
Another cry of the Congi and the JDS is that if the BJP is allowed to form the Govt and given 15 days to prove their majority on the floor of the house , they would get time to *poach* on their elected members in the meantime and thereby influence the vote of confidence in the house . Amusingly , they have packed off their respective packs to a *house arrest* at a resort near Bangalore to prevent their bolting to the BJP side , or abstain from voting against the BJP .
In fact , they are openly mouthing such an eventuality in the public space and the media , and also possibly even in the Supreme Court forum .
This is most laughable , and clearly evidences their lack of faith in their own flock to stand with them at the crucial time . What an irony of circumstances ! These are the people we elect to legislate and govern us .
If you cannot hold on to your own , and they are an accessible or purchasable commodity , they and you are not worthy to be given the opportunity to govern and decide the fate of citizens .
The Congi has moved a midnight petition in the Supreme court to abort the swearing in . The Supreme court should rule that the petitioners should wait for the vote of confidence in the BJP govt and vote them out of power .
That would be the correct , proper and judicious way to allow the right situation to prevail . They should not allow the insecurity of the Congi-JDS , and their lack of faith in their own flock to be protected by judicial order .
That would be the ultimate irony of justice , where the highest court is used to bail out a rejected political forum , and allow them back into power thro a perverse set of circumstances .
Woe upon the people of this country to allow themselves to be used as pawns by such political scum whose rightful place is the *gutter* in the public space .
We can do without these shades of morality , whose meaning is without relevance .
